Our Doctors

Dr. Heather H. Moreau, BVM&S, MRCVS

Owner, Veterinarian

Dr. Moreau grew up “back east,” spending her childhood in Pennsylvania before relocating with her family to Massachusetts. A lifelong athlete, she developed a passion for skiing at an early age and went on to study at the University of Maine at Fort Kent, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology while competing on both the Nordic and Alpine ski teams. During her time at the university, Dr. Moreau was elected Student Representative to the Board of Trustees for two years, where she developed strong leadership and communication skills. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2008 on a full presidential scholarship.

In 2008, Dr. Moreau and her husband, Julian, relocated to Salt Lake City, drawn by their shared love of skiing and life opportunities in Utah. Shortly thereafter, she began her career in veterinary medicine after being introduced to the field by mutual ski team friends. She worked full time as a veterinary technician at a small animal practice in the Salt Lake Valley, gaining valuable hands-on experience before pursuing veterinary school in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Moreau was accepted into the accelerated four-year veterinary program at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh in 2012. Founded in 1823, the RDSVS is one of the oldest veterinary schools in the world and is known for its rigorous, multi-species training. During her time there, Dr. Moreau developed strong clinical interests in dermatology and soft tissue surgery, and at graduation in 2016 she was honored with the school’s “Best Student in Dermatology” award.

Since graduating, Dr. Moreau has practiced full time in the Salt Lake Valley and will celebrate ten years in practice in July 2026. In 2019 she founded Canyons Veterinary Clinic, where she has now spent six years building a thriving practice and team dedicated to compassionate, high-quality care. Her primary professional interests include surgical oncology, dermatology, and the management of brachycephalic breeds, particularly English and French Bulldogs. She has become well known among clients for her experience with these unique breeds and enjoys helping owners navigate their specialized medical needs.

Dr. Moreau also finds great fulfillment in mentoring young veterinarians, teaching students and externs, and helping the next generation of veterinary professionals build confidence in clinical practice. In addition to practicing medicine, she continues to enjoy the challenges and rewards of running a veterinary clinic and fostering a collaborative team environment.

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Moreau and her husband Julian stay busy with their one-year-old son and their French Bulldog, Dolly, who keep the household entertained with their antics.

Dr. Jennifer Carmody, DVM

We are proud to introduce our first associate veterinarian, Dr. Jennifer Carmody. Dr. Carmody grew up outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Although she started her college career with a focus on sports-medicine she quickly realized her real passion was for helping animals. Before joining the Canyons team she practiced at a busy Animal Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dr. Wagstaff went on to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Animal and Poultry Sciences from Virginia Tech with hopes to work as a mixed animal practice veterinarian. She continued on to veterinary school at the University College of Dublin in Dublin, Ireland. After graduation, Dr. Wagstaff worked at busy small animal practices in Dublin and realized that her passions lie more with companion animals. Recently Dr. Wagstaff decided to move back to the States with her husband because she missed home and wanted to explore more of her own country.

Dr. Lucy Wagstaff’s strong interests include soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and feline medicine. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys reading, baking, knitting, practicing yoga, thrifting, hiking, swimming, and spending time with her two rescue cats, Mr. Poopy Peets and Pickles.
